Early Hearing Detection and Intervention Program

The Northern New Jersey Maternal/Child Health Consortium is partnering with the Department of Health and Senior Services topromote and provide training and educational materials on the Early Hearing Detection and Intervention Program.

EHDI program is designed to identify infants with hearing loss by universal screening and enroll them in an early intervention program. EHDI program is characterized by three main components:

  1. Screening (the initial test of infants for hearing loss)
  2. Audiologic evaluation (to confirm hearing loss)
  3. Early intervention (including medical treatment, early intervention services and family support) to enhance communication, thinking, and behavioral skills needed to achieve academic and social success.

If you and your staff are interested, we would be happy to provide you with training and educational materials. The training is FREE of charge and can be delivered at your site. This should take only 30 minutes. The Northern Consortium can also provide your provide your practice with ongoing assistance regarding this program.
