Family workers provide education to caregivers/guardians about the importance of early childhood development in the home.
Black Infant Mortality Resource Center
The BIMRRC is a repository of information on Black infant mortality and racial disparities for consumers and healthcare providers across the nation. Reduce Stress for Babies Best is a program which runs out of the BIMR Center providing stress management training to pregnant Black women to reduce the incidence of low birth weight and premature birth.
"Knock out Diabetes" -A diabetes disparities program in E.Orange
Residents of East Orange will participate in a Diabetes Awareness Campaign which will seek to screen, identify, and provide treatment for those diagnosed with Diabetes.
Early Childhood Mental Health "Play, Grow, Heal"
The IFDC provides trainings for Family Workers and workshops for parents to educate them to identify the behavioral and mental health needs of children. Mental Health screenings in daycare facilities and child care provider homes enable professionals to identify children and ensure their treatment.
Early Hearing Detection and Intervention Program (EHDI)
Promotes and provides training and educational materials to health care providers on EHDI, a program designed to identify infants with hearing loss by universal screening and enroll them in an early intervention program.
Fetal Infant Mortality Review
The Fetal and Infant Mortality Review (FIMR) is designed to reduce preventable fetal and infant deaths through anonymous case review. FIMR can provide insight into the causes of death in a specific location, which may influence federal, state, and local program planning and funding. FIMR provides opportunities for bereaved parents and families to share their feelings and concerns, as well as information and referrals to facilitate their healing.
Lead Poisoning Prevention
The Passaic/Bergen Regional Lead Poisoning Prevention Coalition strives to coordinate consumer education and professional abatement efforts to reduce/eliminate lead hazards found within the home.
Literacy Programs
The IFDC provides adult literacy classes and a financial literacy program. It also provides training, continuing education credits, and instruction to childcare providers. The IFDC also co-sponsors a "Celebrities Read Festival."
"Success by Six Screening Project" - A mobile screening program
Provides developmental, vision, hearing and dental screenings to children from birth to six years of age enrolled in Newark and Irvington childcare and WIC centers. Last year, 862 children were screened. This project is funded by United Way of Essex and West Hudson.
NJ Immunization Information System Registry (NJIIS)
Promotes and provides training to health care providers on the NJIIS, a confidential, web-based statewide registry of immunization records.
Perinatal Addiction Prevention Project
The Perinatal Addiction Prevention Project (PAPP) is funded by the Perinatal Health Services of the New Jersey Department of Health & Senior Services. The Northern New Jersey Maternal/Child Health Consortia administers the PAPP that provides service to Bergen , Essex , Morris, and Essex counties.
The project is designed to train providers to screen women for substance abuse and partner violence in order to identify and refer at-risk women for treatment.

Prenatal and Health Services in Irvington
The IFDC provides family health screenings, pregnancy testing and preconception health education. Health education workshops have been designed for young children and their families, including teen and parent support groups. An IFDC outreach worker also assists families in finding the resources needed to become self sufficient.
Safe Haven
Provides bilingual outreach and education about the "Safe Haven Infant Protection Act" to English and Non-English speaking residents of Passaic county. The Safe Haven Infant Protection Act allows women who are unable to, or choose not to keep their baby (less than 30 days of age) at any hospital emergency room or police station without fear of prosecution.
Safety Net Program of Orange
Connects women and children who have fallen out of the health care system to an appropriate health care provider.
